I shoot a lot of slow-motion video of wildlife with an iPhone attached to a spotting scope. Way too often the iPhone mistakenly saves the video in a vertical orientation, despite the iPhone being oriented horizontally on the spotting scope.* This can be fixed somewhat in iMovie. But it would be very nice if Mojave’s Photos or Quicktime Player apps could simply rotate the video AND keep the adjustable speed controls. But in Mojave…

Photos still can’t rotate a regular or slow motion video that an iPhone mistakenly thought was vertical

and even after exporting the original video

Quicktime Player can rotate it — BUT you lose the controls to interactively adjust the full speed vs slo-mo playback.

* FWIW when mounted on a scope with an angled eyepiece, the iPhone is pointed downward at roughly 45 degrees. It only takes a slight rotation, for the iPhone to mistakenly create a slow motion video that is vertical, rather than horizontal. And you can’t tell it happened until you view the video after it is shot. Which in wildlife videos, is much too late.
