I have not done my research, unfortunately, but do the new 2010 Macbook Pros use the same trackpad hardware as 2009 Macbook Pros? Yes; There are several third party applications for momentum scrolling on the 2009 Macbook Pro, but those drivers require pay for inadequate drivers (not really a "clean" scroll... It does not really correlate with how fast I scrolled on my trackpad in a sense.) Seeing how Apple has still not integrated inertia abilities into the 2009 MBP, is it possible to use drivers from the 2010 MBP on a 2009 MBP?

Probably not, but I can hope :p

Possibly the reason is for the marketing of the new 2010 MBPs... We know that 2009 Macbooks can use momentum scrolling - 3rd party companies have even made their own momentum scrolling enhancements to our trackpads (however, the drivers are rather sluggish...)
Well, if the 2010 MBPs use the same trackpad hardware as the 2009 MBPs, then would it be possible to use a 2010 MBP trackpad driver/kext?

this would seem fairly doable considering that it was possible to bring the trackpad preference pane from the late 2008 mbp to the early 2008 mbp to do 4 finger gestures.

can someone with more knowledge shed some light on this??

i'd like a option for this on my early 2008 mbp
