I just installed my new xt today and to format it I did the disk utility and did erase and let it format to the default file type, is that the correct way and will that let it use the drive to full advantage?

hey i have no idea to your answer, but i run the mac journaled or what ever, umm how do you like the hard drive? i am thinking about replacing my stock 7200 rpm in my 2010 mbp next month?

I havent really used it enough to take advantage of the flash cache yet(Atleast I dont think so) but it was quite noisy during osx install but its been very quiet now and the same as the stock 500gb 7200rpm as far as noise and vibration.

Yes. I used the same putting my SSD in my MBP and it works beautifully.

Just did some tests on it after installing it about 2 hours ago

startup to desktop including typing password...starting at the press of power button is 22 seconds

startup to desktop including typing password...starting at screen light up is 16 seconds

I had a XT for about 2 weeks and then returned it. I hated when I would close safari and it would beachball for like 4 seconds and it started clicking.. Just keep an eye for stuff just incase..
