Disclaimer: Below is somewhat of a Da Vinci Code spoiler for those who have yet to read the book.






I know she is not French, but wouldn't it be fitting if Monica Bellucci were cast as Sophie (rather that Audrey Tautou) in the upcoming Da Vinci Code Movie. Nothing against Audrey, she is an excellent actress, but considering the roles Monica played in The Passion of the Christ and The Matrix sequels, I think she would have a bit more experience (for reference, Monica played Mary Magdelene in the Passion and Merovech's wife in the Matrix Sequels; the Merovingian kings of France claimed to be direct descendents of Jesus and Mary M; hence there would be a bit of irony if Monica was cast for a third time as a member of the Merovingian family) Audrey seems a bit young for the Sophie role, too. I think they did an excellent job of the cast of the Da Vinci Code movie; all great actors ( & esses) and all seem to fit their roles in the book. I can't wait until it comes out.

I really don't know if she's right for this role as I haven't read the Da Vinci Code (despite reading a lot of the non-fiction books on the subject) but I will say that I LOVED her in Malena.

If anyone hasn't seen this, I really recommend it and Monica is wonderful in it.
