monitor blown up!! could screen spanner have..

old 19' monitor, got out of the garage a week ago, used it a few times fine. installed screen spanner on an i book, used for half an hour..........4 mad noises from the monitor and a stink, now it starts up but no image on the display. Could screen spanner have blown it? i would like to use the application on another monitor but dont want to blow it up!!
