Is it just me or are those monitors horribly expensive? Also one of them seems to be nearly discontinued anyway.

Check out the Dell U2715H and see if it meets your... specification requirements.

The U3014 is more of a "professional" display than the ASUS.
It's a two years old model, BTW.
The PB278Q is even a bit older.
AFAIK, their successors are 4k displays.

If price isn't an issue, surely you want to consider the NEC PA302 (the SpectraView Reference edition), or the equivalent Eizo-Model?

I have a couple of the U3014 displays, and they're really awesome gorgeous displays. Not the greatest value though... you're paying a lot for 3 extra inches and 2560x1600.

I wanted the 30" just to make everything feel a little larger compared to the 27"... but the reality is it's not a very big difference. Also the software I use for work really takes advantage of the additional vertical pixels. It also comes with extras like USB3 ports and media drive slot. And anti-glare coating is super critical to me.
