Hi All....

I have read a lot of the Monitor Threads and I am just as confused as ever :) Sorry! Some of you folks are really smart; I am looking for some advice. I know some folks get frustrated with questions like this.... but here goes...

I am looking at this TV https://www.bestbuy.com/site/toshib...h-hdr-fire-tv-edition/6194907.p?skuId=6194907

I know its a TV, But I want it as a secondary monitor and TV.... How do you think this will look? Let's compare it to my current LG 4K (the one Apple sells) if that's a 10, what would this be?? I am most interested in crisp text and this will not be replacing my LG.

Thanks in advance !

Your question doesn't really have anything to do with the mac mini specifically, so you're kind of limiting the potential audience of your question by posting in this forum.

If you're looking for specific reviews of that tv as a computer display, you might have better luck checking discussion/review sites for that specific tv.

If you're just curious how a 43" 4K display compares to a 21.5" 4K display, the 43" is going to have exactly half the DPI (same resolution in double the screen size). At an appropriate viewing distance (i.e. the tv set back a few feet), using the same macOS display scaling, theoretically, it should look somewhat similar (though this can be very dependent on how fast your eyes are able to refocus at different viewing depths).

If the plan is to use the 43" tv at 4K "native" resolution (no scaling) at a similar viewing distance to the 21.5" (which presumably is using scaling), then the 43" will probably look relatively grainy compared to the 21.5".

Cheers!

Great. Thanks for the help. There is so much more to this monitor stuff than I thought. Living in the Apple Ecosystem, it’s kind of done for you. I’ve only had MacBooks and iMacs or the Apple monitors back in the day so I have nit really had to learn. This is for my Mac mini - I have the Same TV but the 50 inch version in the living room, I will hook it up and see, but won’t have the same ‘on the desk’ experience as it would in the office.

I’ll do some more digging too. Thanks for the response.
