I pulled the trigger and went with the Adorama / AppleInsider "deal" but I still feel abused!

Apple 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, Intel Core i7 2.6GHz, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Radeon Pro Vega 20, Space Gray (Mid 2018) $3,949.00

AppleCare $349

Promo Discount: -$225
Free shipping, no tax

Total: $4,073.00

I am not sure if the i9 is worth the extra for me. Pro photographer/ videographer using Adobe CC, Lightroom, photoshop plus many 3rd party filters, add Ons, presets etc, Premiere Pro, Capture One, and Final Cut with external 4K monitors. Plus I like to do some but not a lot of gaming.

Now, can any one recommend a decent good 27" monitor to go with the above? BenQ seems good bang for dollar as I just spent a boat load above. Or just be safe and go with NEC or Eizo?

For Lightroom you need all the processor power you can get for creating previews and when you export different sizes of photos (that's when the computer sounds like a hairdryer, working hard on the processor).

I would go with Eizo because it always is the standard, and they're awesome. I got two and was actually trying to find info if the Pro Vega 20 card would cause me any problems in calibrating them.

at this point, starting with 2019...if i need an external monitor i would buy a cheap one and wait for the Apple's Display

With a 6-core processor, 32GB of RAM, 1TB of some of the fastest SSDs in a laptop, and Apple FINALLY giving the performance of that Vega 20; I'd say it's a good for machine if you're professional that will be using to make money.

I hate the starting price and Apple can keep the Touch Bar crap, but when it comes down to it this machine seems to definitely be a pro machine. I'd take one over the crappy HP "professional" laptops my company makes us engineers use any day of the week.

As for a good monitor, I'm a big fan of Dell monitors. Nice design, decent prices, and high quality panels. I'd probably pull the trigger on a U2719D myself.
