I have been having an issue with my monitor entering power saving/standby mode and (not) staying there.
The monitor would begin to enter standby as expected but would then instantly wake back up (but no screen display) and then keep cycling that behavior for 5 minutes before finally going into standby and staying there until I manually woke it. I booted into safe mode and even reinstalled Ventura but still no change in behavior.
Now, I am running a mini M2Pro on ethernet only; wifi off. I had been reading these post about bad wifi performance on M2 mini Pros so I decided to check it out on my machine. So I turned on wifi, took a brief break and, lo and behold, monitor entered standby mode as set in settings and stayed there this time until I woke it.
I guess I missed the instruction where you have to have wifi turned on on a desktop machine for monitor sleep to work! Who wouldda thunk it? I guess it makes sense since that linkage feature between nearby Macs also requires wifi.
