Hi all,

My wife is getting the base model 13" MBP (the 10th gen Intel) to replace her 2013 Air. I am aware Apple Silicon is coming out, but I think we'll be safe with the purchase from other threads I've read here. She is a university professor and the Air has simply become too slow for her to work on. TLDR at bottom.

She currently has a Dell Ultrasharp U2717D and we'll use that at first, but I was kind of thinking about getting her a new 4k monitor to go with the new laptop. I found another thread with recommendations that someone suggested the LG Ultrafine but that's too much. I was hoping to stay around $500.

Wirecutter recommends the HP Z27n G2.

From the wirecutter description, it seems like I can use a single USB-C cable, but the HP specs don't list the USB-C as a video input, so are they saying it connects with displayport, but then powers everything else with USB-C? I need clarification.
The USB-C port means that if you have a compatible laptop, such as a recent MacBook or Windows ultrabook, you can use the single USB-C connection to connect to the screen, charge your laptop at up to 65 W, and power the monitor’s two USB 3.0 ports for use with mice, keyboards, storage, or other devices, all at the same time;
I'm in IT on the Windows side and have always worked with ThinkPads where docking is easy. I would like something similar for her where she can get home and connect to her home office setup without fumbling with a bunch of cables.

TLDR

I would like something that connects to her laptop via USB-C that would both do video out and charge her laptop. Then possibly a daisy chain option 2nd monitor in the future. If I can't do that, what about a good dock that can?
