Looking for a monitor to plug into my 2012 MBP 13". I've tried an LG but wasn't really impressed with the color and with HDMI it was horrid.

Looking for something in the $200-$300 range, prefer HDMI, DVI and would like the audio output plug.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I use an old 23" Cinema Display that I bought on Craigslist. Better than any other display I've tried. Lots available on eBay too.

Thanks for feedback so far. I am looking at IPS.

I definitely what HDMI, but some don't come with HDMI and DVI, only VGA. I tried one monitor with HDMI and got major issues with Whites.... I read that is a problem with mac mini, but I am using a MBP. Curious if its same issue that is supposed to be resolved in 10.8.3. If not, and i cannot use HDMI, then am I losing a lot using VGA instead of DVI?

I have the LG E2370VBF and its not bad.
As you noted color isnt brilliant as Mac's display but gets the job done and is a great gaming monitor as well.

If you want color to be your priority, go with Dell's IPS monitor.
Except for the horrid DELL logo on front and back, the display is absolutely astonishing.

Looks like the Dell S2340L meets all of your specs. IPS with LED backlight. It has HDMI and VGA with the audio out. You probably aren't going to get DVI and HDMI in the same monitor because they are redundant connectors. You can always get adapters that switch between them.

I actually looked at that one. Weird, on Best Buy it has DVI no HDMI. On NewEgg it has HDMI, no DVI.

I like the HDMI because of the audio, especially if the monitor has an audio out. One less thing i have to plug in when I dock.

I'd love one of those as my secondary monitor only they keep their damn value so well, they still ain't cheap!

This one seems to be highly regarded:

Note: regular price at Best Buy is $299. However, seems like it goes on sale every other week or two for $269. Worth holding out for the savings, if it interests you….

I think best buy might be using the images from a Dell S2340M. The S2340M and S2340L are identical except the S2340L comes with HDMI and an audio output.

Just for the record, those Audio outs are supposed for the optional Dell Speakerbar, which attaches to the bottom of all Dell screens.
