Ok... so I'm awaiting my new 2.8 Quad + 8800GT, and I'm looking for a nice glossy widescreen monitor for gaming, both in OS X and XP.

So far, I've come up with the HP W2207 @ about $320 from Best Buy...

5ms... 1680x1050 1000:1 Contrast... anyone have any better thoughts?

:)

Gateway FHD2400

I have the gateway FHD2400. It is 24" widescreen glossy monitor. Lots of input and looks gorgeous.

I will second your suggestion of the HP. Great, great monitor.

But if anything, do NOT get an ACD. Outdated rip-off and don't let anyone else convince you otherwise (better panel vs. tn; amongst other jibberish).

Yeah, and you don't get to see your own reflection because of that annoying anti-glare stuff.

For some reason, he wants glossy.

Good point, though I don't understand the whole idea about buying an expensive computer and then going cheap on the display

You are going to be looking at it every day and probably for many hours.

do nay of these monitors actually have glass on the outside, like the new imacs do? I would think this would make cleaning the LCD any easier. I don't see any info about on the Samsung or Gateway pages.

If you're going to spend that kind of money on a Mac Pro, you should go the distance and complete the look with an Apple Cinema Display. Anything else is like fuzzy dice in a BMW.

I sold off all my old PC junk, some old coins, a guitar/amp and some old Zippos on eBay and got enough cash to get a 30". Now all I have to do is order my beamer, I mean Mac Pro!
