Monitor Wakeup Issue with 2018 MBP and CalDigit TS3

I have a Samsung S27E450 connected via DisplayPort to a Caldigit TS3. When the computer goes into sleep mode from the lack of activity, and then I try to hit space on the keyboard to wake it up, the monitor will not start up. It just clicks a few times. It's set to only use DisplayPort and not to scan for other devices. I do not have this issue when the monitor is directly connected to the computer. Anyone else have this issue or seen it to know what it is? I will call Caldigits on Monday.
