My partner has noticed she has a bit of a funny heart beat a couple of times a day. She’s spoken to the doctor and he has said that it’s nothing to worry about, but come and get checked up. Which she will do.

In the meantime, would an Apple Watch be able to detect and report on these irregular rhythms so we have a bit more info for the doctors?

Thank you for the input everyone.

Might try a device called Kardia.

Ectopic heart beats are usually benign. They can be caused by stress or too much caffeine, among other things. When the stressor is removed, the heart rhythm returns to normal. (I'm not a doctor, but I speak from first-hand experience.)

If your partner is really concerned, a doctor can fit her with a Holter monitor which records heart rhythm for 24 hours.

Stress = tick!
Caffeine = tick!
Lack of sleep = tick!

I am trying to get her to look after herself more!

While I agree from what little I know, I am just after some more data.

I have a 1st-gen Apple Watch, and I wouldn't rely on it for HR monitoring. I think later models may be better. I like my AW, but I'm not sure I would get it for health diagnostic purposes.
