Hi,
I'm using a MBP with a 256 GB SSD as the boot volume and the old 750GB HDD as a data volume (there's iTunes movies, setup dmgs and IPSW's on there, as well as some Windows stuff on a 2nd NTFS-partition). So i only need the HDD spinning when I want to watch iTunes movies/TV shows or access it in Finder.
I've already lowered the "inactivity-interval" so it spins down earlier after bootup.
But whenever i open up iPhoto (Photo Library file is on the SSD) or Mac App Store (all my apps are on my SSD without exceptions), it randomly starts spinning again. Sometimes also in QuickTime when i open a movie that's on my SSD and not on any other volume.
Is there any way i can monitor why these apps access my HDD or which files they access? Or any other hints to avoid these spinning-ups?
Thanks!
