Hi all
Ok, fed up with Apple announcing products and then they're like hen's teeth. No idea when I might see a Ultrafine 5K on my desk and I fought my instant gratification for what seems like forever waiting for the new MBP.
So having plumped for a 2016 15" MBP (460, 1TB) at UK prices I want to commit to this ASAP rather than keep jumping back to my previous setup (2013 27" iMac + 1080p monitor). I had a client today who said it was great that I could come to him now, so it has proven its worth already. (Bit concerned about the battery life but we'll all need to see how that pans out.)
So I'm thinking of getting an LG 27UD88 (http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27UD88-W-4k-uhd-led-monitor) immediately. And if I like it, I'll just get another one. Or at least I'll be able to work properly while I'm waiting for the 5k. I really prefer a dual monitor setup. I'll be mostly using it for Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign/iMovie/Logic Pro x/PowerPoint – I work in publishing and design.
Pretty sure the colour will be good from the reviews but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to monitors. So I have what you might think are silly questions. I have a Drobo 5D - can that connect to the monitor? (Currently using Thunderbolt 2 to the iMac.) Also will it be ok to connect my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (https://us.focusrite.com/usb-audio-interfaces/scarlett-2i2) to the monitor and my MBP will be able to use it?
I know I won't get a full charge as it only supplies power at 60w but are there any thoughts people might have on this setup? Please excuse my general ignorance! Appreciate your advice guys and gals. Very tempted to just order two and MAKE it work!
