I got my M1 Max Mac Studio running Monterey over a year ago and quickly set up OneDrive as my cloud backup and sync solution. With OneDrive on my Mac and the third party OneSync app on my Android devices, I accomplished seamless multi device bidirectional sync for all files I stored in OneDrive. Add, subtract or change any file, photo or song on any device and the change was automagically reflected onto all of my other devices.

It was brilliant ... until it wasn't. Recently, OneDrive on my Monterey Mac Studio ceased working. It simply will not sync anymore, always telling me my files are in sync, despite the fact that it is missing an ever growing number of new files. By contrast, OneDrive on my Sonoma MacBook Pro continues to operate flawlessly.

Is anyone else experiencing issues with Monterey and OneDrive? I have read that Microsoft has a "three macOS" OneDrive policy... OneDrive will always support the last three macOS versions. With the release of Sequoia, Monterey is now four back. Has it fallen off the supported set?

Has anyone else had their Monterey OneDrive "cease and desist"? Are there any known workarounds? I REALLY don't want to have to upgrade every macOS release just to keep my cloud backup/sync solution operational!

An update here. I tried OneDrive again after upgrading my Monterey to the current 12.7.6. It continues to claim that my files are sync'd, but it did not update them at all. I am now missing two weeks or so of photos from my phone, which ARE up on OneDrive (I can see them through the web app and on my Sonoma MBP) but will not sync to my Monterey Magic studio.

So, last evening I took the obvious next step, uninstalling OneDrive all together. It was frustrating to have to do this but satisfying nonetheless - I recovered nearly 30 GB of space that OneDrive had been consuming for TWO copies of all my OneDrive data (OneDrive's wasteful use of space is covered in another thread by another author).

My Mac now boots faster and seems more snappy without OneDrive. Overall, this may be a good thing, but I need a new Monterey-friendly cloud backup solution!
