hi mr

tried reading multiple threads and searched but could not find an answer.

the 128gb 6s is showing as 42.45/mo.

that comes out to

42.45 x 24 = 1018.80

if you buy outright, it comes out to 849 + 129 = 978

the difference is 40.80. what does this represent? is this the built in finance charge?

Tax? I know I got charged $45 in tax from Verizon last night for my 64gb 6s.

since im in CA, the tax should be way higher. also, when i read the fine print, it states that in CA and RI, tax is charged for the unbundled price. im assuming that means that we have to pay tax when we go into the store to pick up the phone.

that 40.80 is a weird number and i cant figure it out. most threads stated that it would cost 40.75 and not 42.45.

it is interest. Don't forget you also have to give them the phone if you upgrade.

And you have to turn your old phone in... So you actually lose because you don't get that money back

Not sure where the 42.45 comes from. I just pulled the number from Apples page.

You can simply pay the phone off and not trade it in. Or you trade it in in place of your remaining payments (as if you are selling at some point, just that the trade in won't get you as much value as selling, as is usually the case with trade-ins no matter what product).

Wouldn't sweat a $40 difference when you're spending a grand. Better than buying a locked phone from your carrier.

I don't get this. This is so defeating. If you don't sweat it, next time it's $60, then $100, and so on. You have to sweat every penny or else you are a sheep. Don't be a sheep. It maybe a valid charge, but difficult to tell what it is. If it's AT&T or Apple, pulling a fast one, then we have to all cry foul right away.

Can you post a screenshot of the 42.45? my Apple site is showing 40.75 for that phone which the math adds up on.

Wait, this doesn't make sense.

I placed 2 orders of the 6S Plus with 128GB:
- Reservation pickup: show $44.91 X 24 months = $1077.84
- Pre-order shipping: show $949 + $80.67 tax = $1029.67

Where's the $48.17 from the iPhone Upgrade Program comes from? Discounted AppleCare?

Your reservation does not include the tax that you will have to pay at the reservation appointment, and your preordered phone does not include Apple Care +. If you add the tax to the 48.71 you should get the 130 dollar cost of Apple Care that makes up the difference.

I thought tax is included in the Upgrade Program? If not, then it'll be more expensive:
- Add tax (8.5%) to the Upgrade Program: $1077.84 (AppleCare incl.) + $91.61 (tax) = $1169.45
- Add Apple Care ($129) to the preorder : $1029.67 (tax incl.) + $129 (AppleCare) = $1158.67

Both now have tax and AppleCare, but the Upgrade Program now have a different of $10.78. Not much, but I was not planning to get an AppleCare. Without AppleCare, the savings for the outright purchase is even cheaper:

$1169.45: upgrade program (tax + Applecare)
$1029.67: full price (tax only)
====== -
$ 139.78 difference

I'm pretty sure with apples upgrade program apple care is not optional.

Yeah, it is not. I actually have no plan to do the Upgrade Program, just did the reservation so I can pay in-store with Discover + ApplePay (10% cashback!). But the reservation email mentioned I can do the Upgrade Program when I pick up the phone, so I was curious when I started adding the numbers.

I am still curious why the math doesn't add up as shown above, even if I make both order the same (tax + AppleCare).

Hmm..

Strangely, my VZW 128GB 6s+ has a monthly payment charge of 39.58. Not even over $40 yet.

39.58x24= $950. Where are other people having issues?

Because Verizon's plan doesn't include AppleCare+. There are no issues, just a bit of confusion.

  • Taxes and Fees. All applicable taxes and fees due on the purchase of the Financed iPhone and AppleCare+ are included in your first installment payment.

The first months payment is going to include the tax and will be higher than the other remaining 23 months. That first payment will vary depending where you live.

What do you mean? The phone is part d off by the end of the year. It's yearly isn't it? Or is the phone completely paid off in two years? ( all of this assuming I don't hand in my phone )
