So the good news is I'm eligible for my 2-year upgrade (hooray!) which is great timing with the new launch next week.
I currently own an iPhone 4S and I'll be upgrading to the "5S" as soon as it's in my local Best Buy.
BB had a promotion earlier this year where if you registered your phone number and upgrade your phone before the end of the year you'll get a $50 gift card back for a future purchase.
So my goal will be to use this free $50 gift card to purchase a new case for my phone.
I currently use an Otterbox Commuter series case for my 4S. It's my third one. The first two were replaced (no questions asked) by customer service when the bottom section broke. I'm pretty sure this is a design flaw as the phone has never been dropped nor taken out of the case except to swap it out to the new cases after breakage.
While I like the security of the Otterbox, I'm thinking that I may want to get a Mophie out of convenience. While I'm very often nearby to a power outlet - whether it be in my car or at home, I don't bring my charger with me out of my car (which is just a USB cable I used to use with my iPod and not the 12V outlet adapter at the end of it).
I also know that all my "extra" cables will be worthless with the upgrade as they're changing to a Lightning connector.
I don't usually run out of juice in a normal day, but it does happen when I'm away and on the go from time to time. (Days out at the mall, out watching family play soccer/softball games, etc.)
The Mophie seems like a good product to fill in the void. Essentially after you factor in the cost of the Otterbox Commuter or Defender you're getting an extra battery for around $30. I think that's great. I don't really want too much bulk as seen in the Armor series.
I've heard mixed reviews for the Helium, but I like that it's considerably thinner and doesn't add a lot of bulk to the phone.
Of course I realize I'll have to wait a few weeks for Mophie to update their products for the "5S"... I'm fine with that as I have to wait for the Gift Card back from BB anyway.
Thoughts, opinions, etc, very welcome on this thread.
Thanks!
