Just received my Mophie Powerstation Mini that I got on sale for $30, or 50% off.

First impressions - it is MUCH lighter than expected, I expected something with some heft. Other major impression, I had no idea it was glossy, every pic I've seen doesn't show a glossy finish, I was expecting a rubberized feeling, but it's hard glossy plastic. Quality seems nice though.

Don't care for the fact I need a micro USB to charge it, but it is what it is.

Will make a good little charger to throw in my bag for those rare days I need a boost.

I'm not a fan of the direction Mophie is going. They're coming out with smaller (mAh) packs in order to try to stay competitive rather than reducing their pricing in line with the market value of the technology.

I do like that they came out with the power station plus, that's the only real beneficial product they have these days. It has built-in charge and power cable... but it's so bulky to have that included... but then the alternative is they insist on using micro usb to charge, so having to carry the micro usb charger is annoying as well, then having to carry a lightning cable too.

Not sure why they're going with the marketing and product line selection they are, but as a long time customer I'm becoming disenfranchised.

The price of an external battery is 1/22nd of the cost it was 3 years ago, but the price per milliamp from Mophie hasn't changed in years. Can you imagine if Apple or Dell or any other company didn't adjust their product's price per spec accordingly? They'd be out of business!
