I think people may be underwhelmed with the new iPhone. From what I can gather, it'll be almost exactly the same as the 3G, but with faster hardware, a compass, and video functionality; nothing major. Perhaps coupled with the rumored $100 price drop.

Unless, of course, everything we're seeing is for the "low-end" iPhone, and there's a previously un-seen, un-leaked super iPhone taking the top spot.

People always feel underwhelmed after these media events. For so many fanboys around here, this place always blows up with negativity after them. Anyways, I agree with you. We didn't see much of a change between the original and the 3G, I doubt we're going to see much of a change this time around.

Honestly, I'd be happy even getting a 3G right now, so unless this new model is somehow worse than the old one, I'll be a happy camper.

If they follow this forum, or any of the gadget sites I'm sure you are correct, but I'm willing to bet that most people don't follow these sites so they really don't know what the rumors are or have seen the "leaked" photos. For those people I don't think they will be underwhelmed. I also don't think Apple ever has a chance of satisfying the Macrumors market.
