I was in my local walmart today and went to buy 2 battery packs for my psp slim but the whole psp section was on clearence even the accessories that just came out for the psp 3000 all were half price so I picked up the remaining 2 batteries and an umd storage case. I then made my way over to gamestop and they said the only psp accessories they had were the headphones with remote. I asked when they would be getting more in and they checked the computer and it said "dicontinued due to incompatibility with system hardware." this pretty much guarinties a totaly redesigned psp is on the way.

**I know this is not Apple news but this could be a stronger competitor to the ipod.**

okay.......

why don't you go post this on s PSP forum where
more people will care lol

PSP is a gaming system 1st
iPod is a Music System 1st

i doubt Apple sits there in a meeting
wonder how to out due the PSP
i mean they have better things to worry about

im pretty sure people wont go all out on a PSP
now that there's an ipod touch

i know before the age of the touch
the PSP was used as the music player because it was handy and cheaper

but now since the ipod touch can do everything an PSP can do ...
even the iPod can play games
yes not like PSP games
but then the PSP
doesn't have the design or portability of the iPod
I'm sure Apple isn't worried or was ever worried:apple:;)

so i dont see your point at all

Thank you. The end.

Then why has apple spent millions of dollars marketing the touch as a gaming device? If the psp has a touchscreen that would make it right up there with the touch. If it does have the rumored sliding screen portability with be increased.

Don't go so far as to say that.

The iPod touch and PSP are two different markets. If Sony wants to CHANGE the PSP to come into the iPod touch's market, then that's their doing.

Apple is NOT going to be changing their market to fight the PSP/DS.

They don't have to change their market to fight the DS/PSP but we've seen the DS move closer to the iPod Touch with the DS app store.

It doesn't mean the PSP is direct competition but I for one can't afford both, so the decision on which one I spend my money on will come down to which one has the features and games that I want.

So in that sense, for me, they are in direct competition.

Prabz and Second, this topic has relevance in this forum from what I can see. Possibly not under the games section, but it does deal with the convergence of apples iPod line with the handheld console market.

They are getting closer together all the time it seems. And if the PSP moves closer in functionality to the iPod touch then it may sway buyers who don't need a new phone but like the fact that you can play games and do some basic 'work' on the touch.

The only ipod touch ads i see are ones where the touch is playing GAMES!

This is quite an odd thread, lots of newbies trying to change what the forums are about :D welcome to the Console Games board where this has 100% relevance!

And given that Sony have announced some very big titles for the PSP I doubt there is going to be a PSP2 around the corner. Plus, I'm sorry, you're on the internet; no proof=no sale.

Do you even OWN a PSP????? They would have to change the controls dramatically if they made it a touchscreen device. No more D-Pad, no more L or R, no more analog stick. I dislike Sony products because they always choose to use proprietary stuff. MemoryStick, UMD, etc.

Then you haven't seen many ads in your lifetime. SOME of them include games, but ALL of them are about the App Store. You must have misunderstood the ad, the person in the ad is demonstrating the App Store and all its apps and uses.

I have owned 2 originals and 1 slim

Maybe but every app is a game

His point was that there has been a mock-up for ages now of a PSP with a huge screen that slides up, and people have made it into a touchscreen :p But the controls are still under the screen.
