MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) can support an HDMI-compatible device on its HDMI port while also using two Thunderbolt displays.

Seems like this question has come up a lot on here and now we have an answer.

The other FAQs also have interesting information about using different combinations of Thunderbolt displays, iMacs, and Mini-Displayport displays/adapters.

Wow, so you could drive two 2560x1440 27" Thunderbolt Displays and a 1920x1080 monitor/tv over HDMI at once? That's a crazy amount of real estate, even for my sensibilities (for a few years I was running a 4-monitor setup).
