I keep reading more reports of malware and the like from time to time , like on Trendmicro's own blog ( what a surprise) .

I have seen reports about this during the last few days. From what I see, its all coming from trendmicro.com. I don't think its anything to worry about.

Their partners with Intego. Who makes virus and internet security Apps for mac. Just trying to spure sales I bet.

When you here about it here at Macrumors as being a problem, then we can worry about it.
