I'm looking at the new 15" i7 2.2ghz, everything else is base, except the HDD will be the 500 gig 7200 rpm.

The thing is, I also have this extra 10% discount (so about $220). I noticed that upgrading RAM now costs way less than it used to (only $180). But is this still a total rip off? How much would just buying RAM myself cost?

Would it make sense for me to use the discount to upgrade the RAM to 8 gig? Or should I just save money? Would the performance be THAT much better? Has anyone geekbenched an 8 gig setup yet?

I plan to be using it for video, photo, graphics, and audio editing, and maybe some light mainstream gaming.

For your uses, I would definitely upgrade to 8GB of ram from OWC.

It's super easy to do yourself.

Edit: Apparently Hellhammer found a better deal lol

More RAM does not always mean greater benchmark results as some only test the bandwidth, not the capacity. More RAM is always better and productivity apps love RAM. 83$ from NewEgg
