If you put an extra video card into the Mac Pro can u run more than 2 displays like if i have 2 cards installed will i be able to run 4 screens, 3 cards 6 ect.?
wow i just looked on the Mac pro page and saw it. if it was a snake it would have bit me. It seems so obvious now.
So if i have 4 displays and i want to span do they have to be next to each other or can two be on top?
You can arrange them physically any way you want and then represent this in the OSX system preferences. You can go 4x1, 2x2, 1x3, a T shape, whatever![]()
I read somewhere recently you can do up to 18 monitors. Not sure if that is accurate, but you can have a LOT of monitors.
There are 4 slots you can put a graphics card in. All the compatible card have 2 DVI ports, thus if you maxed a Mac Pro out with graphics cards you would have the ability to run 8 displays, not 18 (unless you were to use some sort of display splitter to combine two displays into what the computer perceives as one, but that's still only 16).
Matrox sell quad-head graphics cards. If they had Mac support...
