For those 2013 MBA 13" owners (could apply to 11" too), the Moshi hard case is not fully compatible with the new MBA's. It hides the second mic. This is what I heard from Moshi:

Hello Pradeep,

Thank you for your email.

The introduction by Apple of the two microphones on the left side of the laptop constitutes a change in hardware that needs to be reflected on iGlaze to ensure that the MacBook remains 100% functional while resting in iGlaze. Our Production team is working on this but at this time they are not able to provide a date for when the new design will be available for purchase.

If you own or plan on purchasing a MacBook Air 2013, we recommend waiting for the new iGlaze to come out. We should have a new model available in a few weeks.

To keep updated with the release date, you can follow us on our Facebook page as all of the new products are announced there - http://www.facebook.com/moshimonde

Please let us know if you have any other questions. We're here to help.

Best regards,

Hello,

I read that the existing iglaze snap-on case for Macbook air 13" does not
have the opening for the additional mic in the 2013 models. When is the
compatible model expected to release?

But their website already shows the cutout/hole for the mic?

I doubt if its a hole. I had the same doubt. That's why I contacted them before buying it. If you see, the plastic clearly covers the second mic. May be I am wrong.
I've heard that many third party cases that cover the new mic actually hardly affect the input. Might be worth experimenting.

Your correct…….It's the second Mic.

Wait for the updated cover(what I'd do) or
modify the current one.

I have a Moshi iGlaze on my 11" MBA,
Can't recommend them high enough….

I'm waiting for some of the better existing non-dual-mike protective cases to be steeply discounted because, well, because they are sort of obsolete.

In all the years I've had laptop computers, I've never once used a built-in or plug in microphone on one, nor do I use the built-in video cameras. :D

Shows as out of stock on their website now that I looked, but I think they already know what they are going to do. And its a hole for sure the black version shows it.

Good point. I have never used them either. Especially at this age of smart phones, I doubt if there are many users for face time on the mac.

Good catch. I didn't think of looking at the black case pics. These could be pics of the new version they will be releasing soon.

Look at the pic from the apple store. This one does not have a hole.

Even a guy with ten thumbs like me could manage to use an electric drill to put a 1/8" hole in the case to "uncover" the second microphone hole, if such action was needed to make everything work properly. Looks like about a 1/8" or 3/16" hole on that Moshi case.

I've got some GMYLE hard case and covering one of the mic holes literally makes no difference whatsoever to the mic quality.

I am allowed a free case for my new macbook air 13" but from the apple store.

I realize many cases cover the second or both mics.

What cases don't cover the mics? Sena?

Thanks

I am suppose to let apple customer service know tomorrow which case.

The best ones are moshi and incase. Incase has not yet come with the one that does NOT cover the second mic. Moshi is the first.

Thanks. I ended up ordering the Sena 13" Folio. I thought I saw a video showing it doesn't cover the two mics. Guess I will see in due time.

Thanks

Apple is the best for customer service!! I love Apple.

Does anybody know if the moshi case has a rubberized finish or a glossy slippery surface?

Thanks in advance

Moshi Macbook Air Hardshell Cases

Does anybody know if the moshi case has a rubberized finish or a glossy slippery surface?

Thanks in advance

Hey there, Dan from Moshi here.

Our iGlaze hardshell cases have more of a smooth, matte finish that is neither slippery nor rubbery. They are now fully compatible with the 2013 Macbook Air, with a cutout for the second mic on the left hand side. You can check them out here if you'd like: http://store.moshimonde.com/iglaze-hard-case-macbook-air-13-white.html

Thanks!

Dan
