Hi Guys

I have a late 2007 macbook 2.2Ghz that was running OSX 10.6.1

Just ran software update to update to 10.6.2 and now most of my applications "quit unexpectedly" when I try to open them.

Firefox 3.5, Word 2008, Powerpoint 2008, iTunes, Lightroom 2.1, Smultron, VLC all crash.

Safari, iCal, Finder, Preview, System Preferences are about the only apps currently working.

Software update log shows the following were installed:
Remote Desktop Client Update 3.3.1
Canon Printer Drivers Update 2.1
iTunes 9.0.2
Max OSX Update Combined 10.6.2

I have tried
- Repair permissions
- restarted computer
- deleted preference files
- tested with a new user account
- ran maintenance scripts
- zap PRAM
all with no success.

Has anyone else had similar issues and/or know the remedy?

Cheers

Crash Reports

Thanks woowoodengy, I tried the fix you pointed to and restarted my computer but no joy. (I downloaded the snow leopard version, not the leopard version).

Fixed! :-d

I tried downgrading Safari and also tried installing nightly build of webkit - neither of these worked.

Manually downloaded 10.6.2 combo update - took three attempts to download an uncorrupted copy mind; Installed it and everything is now back to normal!

Thankyou to everyone who helped!

Last resort is...

update_dyld_shared_cache

This is in case the caches didn't get updated during the update, supposed to never need to be done with the new versions of the OS, but can still work for those times the apps unexpectedly quit after an OS update (or you get a bunch of throttling respawns.)
