I recently started sorting out some stats on iPad games and ran into some interesting data.

There are some pretty neat stats like average price of a game ($1.50), percent of free games compared to paid games (30% to 70%), most expensive game ($399.99 - Buddy Repperton Gold) and such.

There is a bunch of stuff so I wrote post about it. I put it all into graphs so if you are curious here is the link: iPad Games Analytics

Very interesting stats. I'd love to see the same analysis of all software categories as I'm not a huge gamer.

When I get around to it I'll try and put an article for all apps as well. iPad games are fairly easy as there are only a few thousand of them (in the low teens). The number of all of the other apps is probably in the hundred thousands so gathering all that data might get a little cumbersome.

This must be Buddy Repperton...

there are 82,456 iPad apps according to AppShopper

That site might also be a good location for you to collect data?
