Every time Apple does a new batch of upgrades for the top-end Macs (now the mac pro), I like to try to max-out the apple store's price for one.

The new Mac Pro can easily cost more than $25,000 dollars before software!

it's a snarling beast at that cost, with 4 SAS drives and Fibre and 2 30" ACDs, but it is possible to load up that much on a single screen...

I just thought I'd mention it because surely someone other than myself has done this before...

right?

...

I do it every once in a while, and I even consider thinking about buying it. Then out of no where, my wife appears and reminds me that it will never happen.

This was discussed before, and in the UK the price comes to over 32,000 USD!!!
Then again, RAM, HardDrives and Displays can all be purchased 3rd party for a fraction of the cost.

Well, 32gb of RAM at $9100. Elsewhere same size is only $2800.
1tb hard drives cost ~$270, not the $550 Apple charges.

oh i agree, but some companies actually pay those prices

if nobody paid those prices, they would be lower.

At is introduction the MAC IIfx fully tricked out ( max memory, max hard drives, 2 floppy, A/UX ) pushed $25000.00 in 1990 dollars. base machine was either $10000.00 or $12000.00 ( with parity bit RAM capability )
