Do you automatically update the OS patches even if they are for apps you dont have of plan to have?
 
Well if they're for individual apps, then it's not really an OS update.

If it's something like Quicktime that OS X might need regardless of whether or not you use it often, then you probably want to update it.

If it's something like GarageBand and you never use it, then yeah, there's no reason to if you don't want to bother with the download.
 
of Course, why not?

I should note this is on my laptop, my non mission critical, non important coding/editing machine. My PowerMac G5 on the other hand is still on tiger and 10.4.9 i think.
