I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of motherboard the Macbook Air Mid-2012. I want to purchase a Black Magic device, but it will only be compatible with an x58 chipset on your motherboard with on board USB 3.0

Will my Macbook Air be compatible?

-Thanks.

I'm assuming that you mean x86. The MacBook Air meets both of those requirements. So long as the device is advertised to be Mac compatible, you should be good to go.

x58 is an actual chipset, x86 is an instruction set. Anyway, no, the MBA does not use an x58 chipset.

The 2012 MBA uses an Intel HM77 chipset.

If the device needs a USB 3.0 connection, the 2012 MBA has those.
