Motion vs After Effects

Im looking at getting into motion graphics alot more this year and was wondering the differences between after effects and motion.
I have used after effects- although i have not even opened motion.

which one do you people recommend for solid motion graphic creation??

Well for starters don't you have to buy the entire Final Cut Pro suite to get Motion as opposed to just buying After Effects?

I've not used Motion simply for that reason and am interested in other responses to the OP.
