Just upgraded my 2012 Air to Mountain Lion and everything went smoothly, but one thing I have noticed is that the default audio setting is different than Lion's. It sounds muffled and distorted. I am able to bypass this in iTunes using the EQ, but for everything else I am not sure how to fix it. Is there a master audio setting that I can access to fix this? Thanks.

the same with me... 2012 macbook air. i7, 8gbram, 512gbssd and after the mountain lion update the music played with itunes is awfully scratchy and distorted... are we the only two guys having this problem? You can easily notice this problem if you play a song with high pitches like a dance song or something with a very strong female voice. Hope apple will fix this quickly cause it's now a pain lo listen to music coming from my loved new air !!

i own a macbook air 11" 2011. i also had the same audio problems after installing the mountain lion. The sound is distorted when the music or voice is high pitched.
