So I recently created a small partition of Yosemite on my MBP running 10.8.5. Since then, my spotlight results in mountain lion are showing results also in my Yosemite partition.
As an example, if I spotlight search 'Firefox', it will show 2 applications. It is really annoying and makes spotlight less useful for me. Is there a way to make spotlight only search the mountain lion partition?

Go to system preferences -> spotlight -> privacy. And select Yosemite partition. This will prevent spotlight to search for items in that partition.

However, this will also prevent spotlight to search that partition while you're booted into that partition...
