I bought and installed a new HD on my macbook pro running Mountain Lion OS. Now I'm trying to copy the data from my old HD wich also have Mountain Lion installed but I can't mount my old HD throught USB as an external HD. The format is not been recognized.
More information:
The old HD has data, so I can't erase it.
Both HD is formatted using Mac OS extended (jornaled).
Although I can't mount the HD, the disk utility shows it, but umounted.
When I try to mount, nothing happens.
If I connect the old HD throught the ribbon cable I can start normally the OS and manipulate my files, but then the same thing happens with the new HD. I'm not able to see it when connected through USB.
I think the HD brand and model are not relevante to this case, because both HD used in this proccess are having the same behavior when connected through USb.
Based on the statements above, I can assure that is not a hardware problem.
This problem appers to be simple to resolve, but I've searched and found nothing that could help me. Anyone have some idea?
