I've got an G4 iBook. The mouse button has quit working and it's out of Applecare.

My question is, has anybody had this happen and how much does it cost to fix? Is it better to let Apple do it, or are there others that will fix it?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

If you wanted to fix it yourself, it would just cost the amount of a top casing for the iBook. If you ordered it from iFixit it would be about $70, I've taken apart and repaired iBook G4's before and it isn't too difficult. The guide for the replacement is here.

If you're not up for it then Apple does do out of warranty repairs. You could set up a Genius Bar appointment and find out how much the repair would be from Apple.
