Mouse disappears switching on laptop

I have a weird issue on MacOS 10.12.2. When I switch on my MacBook Pro (13 inch Early 2015) the cursor doesn't show. I have to hold the power button in and press enter to shutdown then start the laptop again for it to appear.

Seems to happen after the laptop is turned off for a while then back on again. Anyone got an ideas what I can try to solve this?
