I have a logitech m705 mouse that has programmable buttons and wheels and all worked ok until I updated to sequoia 15.6.
Now the vertical scroll has stopped working but the other buttons still work.
I checked that all the mouse software was up to date but the computer reports that some extensions failed to load yet all the extensions are active in the settings section.
Can anyone advise if this mouse is now obsolete or how to recover the vertical scroll function?
Thanks.

To my knowledge, macOS has never supported programmable mouse buttons natively -- thus, I assume you're using Logitech's mouse software (or another program like SteerMouse). Your problem probably stems from a glitch between the new macOS version and the Logitech or third-party mouse software.

Maybe Logitech or Apple will fix the issue someday, but in the meantime you could uninstall the Logitech software and use your mouse with the simple macOS built-in mouse support. You'd lose the programmable button functions, but it would fix your vertical scroll problem, I think.

I gave up on Logitech's mouse software (and programming my buttons) a long time ago because it frequently had bugs in it.

Thanks all. I will check out the two alternative softwares mentioned.
One question, should I uninstall all the Logitech software first before trying the other mouse softwares?
At the moment, the computer won’t load the Logitech options extensions at startup, but the mouse still works with all the programmable options except for vertical scroll, which is inconvenient, but I can use the keyboard up/down keys to scroll if I want.
Some of the software must work since I can access an options feature and set up the programmable options, but the vertical scroll just will not work.
I have checked permissions and extensions and accessibility options but nothing helps. I also uninstalled everything and reinstalled the latest versions.
The mouse is a wireless M705 and uses a little dongle connected to the back of the iMac and not Bluetooth. It’s worked fine for 7 or 8 years through all the os versions until the latest one, sequoia 15.6.

I have been trying now with various apps suggested above but nothing has worked and the scroll function remains unusable.
Can anyone please suggest which current Logitech mice will work with the latest Mac OS?
I am running sequoia on a 2020 intel iMac.

Even old Logitech mice work with Sequoia.

Forget about the Logi mouse software.

Instead, try one of these:
- Steermouse (very nice)
- USB Overdrive (works with keyboards as well as mice)

Both are small, free to download and try.

thanks, already tried steer mouse and that didn't work.
I tried uninstalling all the Logitech software and installing steer mouse and also Mac mouse fix but they were worse than the Logi software in that I even lost the existing functions.
I reinstalled the Logi software and can program all the buttons I want ok but the scroll tab won't even allow any settings and the page goes blank when I click to it in the Logi settings.
All this happened when I did the last sequoia update and my iMac is a 2020 intel i7.

It could be they changed something very minor in one of their last updates. I swapped from the old Lightning port mouse to a usb c and you have to touch very far on the left side for it to register a click. Didn’t have that problem on my old mouse.

Well, I got another mouse from my son to use, a Logi m720 triathlon and it all worked fine but now there is a new issue.
Whenever I start or restart the computer, the mouse scrolls fine but it has lost its button functions.

I have to open the Logi app and click on the mouse icon to open the button settings and then it works fine until the next time I start the computer.
The button settings are still set correctly in the app when I check, and I don't need to do anything except just start the app and check the mouse settings to reactivate the button functions. Then I can close the app and it still works fine.

Can anyone please advise why the button functionality stops working after I restart the computer?
I have checked extensions in Mac settings and they look ok, and putting the Logi app to start on startup doesn't fix it since I still need to go to the button settings menu before I can make them work again.

Don’t know if it helps much .. I used to have a Logitech track ball mouse and it worked out of the box with my Mac’s. Have you tested it against a windows box? The one thing you do have to watch for is the difference in the mice. Logi has 2 different communication protocols for wireless equipment… one lets you daisy chain and the other doesn’t. That software app may not be doing anything for you. Are you plugging the Bluetooth directly in to the Mac or into a keyboard. I’ve learned to be weary of Logi. 2 protocols always gives them an out.

I use a usb dongle transmitter to connect. I was able to resolve the problem more or less.
It seems that after the computer is on, if I play a bit with the channel selector button on the mouse, it connects all functions.
