I have a logitech m705 mouse that has programmable buttons and wheels and all worked ok until I updated to sequoia 15.6.
Now the vertical scroll has stopped working but the other buttons still work.
I checked that all the mouse software was up to date but the computer reports that some extensions failed to load yet all the extensions are active in the settings section.
Can anyone advise if this mouse is now obsolete or how to recover the vertical scroll function?
Thanks.

To my knowledge, macOS has never supported programmable mouse buttons natively -- thus, I assume you're using Logitech's mouse software (or another program like SteerMouse). Your problem probably stems from a glitch between the new macOS version and the Logitech or third-party mouse software.

Maybe Logitech or Apple will fix the issue someday, but in the meantime you could uninstall the Logitech software and use your mouse with the simple macOS built-in mouse support. You'd lose the programmable button functions, but it would fix your vertical scroll problem, I think.

I gave up on Logitech's mouse software (and programming my buttons) a long time ago because it frequently had bugs in it.

Thanks all. I will check out the two alternative softwares mentioned.
One question, should I uninstall all the Logitech software first before trying the other mouse softwares?
At the moment, the computer won’t load the Logitech options extensions at startup, but the mouse still works with all the programmable options except for vertical scroll, which is inconvenient, but I can use the keyboard up/down keys to scroll if I want.
Some of the software must work since I can access an options feature and set up the programmable options, but the vertical scroll just will not work.
I have checked permissions and extensions and accessibility options but nothing helps. I also uninstalled everything and reinstalled the latest versions.
The mouse is a wireless M705 and uses a little dongle connected to the back of the iMac and not Bluetooth. It’s worked fine for 7 or 8 years through all the os versions until the latest one, sequoia 15.6.
