mouse got a mind of its own

Today my mouse started acting screwy. The pointer just randomly zig-zags all across the screen. Anyone else have this happen? ANy suggestions?

try mousing on a different surface.

I'm using the same mousepad I always have. Tried two different mice as well (both optical). In a split seconds time my pointer will fly down to the bottom of the screen. Driving me nuts.

did a reboot and problem solved. Not that anyone is reading this anyway.

I always find a different type of cheese may help.

Swearing off the hootch may help too granny...

If this happens again, before rebooting, check to see if there is a hair, or lint in the focus area of the mouse lense. These things can come and go very quickly.
