Mouse Pref on NON Mighty Mouse

I have a Microsoft Arc Mouse (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/arc-mouse) that I need to change button functions on. Specifically, I need to change the Middle Mouse Button to Button-3. I do not have a Mighty Mouse, and because this is not an Apple mouse, I have lost the controls to assign buttons in the Preferences window. A while ago I downloaded a driver for the mouse, which allowed me to change some settings, but it also changed the way the cursor responded so I uninstalled the driver. My questions:

Can I force OSX 10.6.8 to give me mouse prefs for mighty mouse?
Is there another way to assign the buttons?
