Over time the mouse button on my macbook has gotten worse and worse and is now totally inoperable. I can use this computer only because I have an external mouse plugged in and the trackpad/mouse turned off.
The problem fits the description of a swollen battery -- in other words if I turn the mac off and take out the battery, the mouse clicks ok. As soon as the battery goes back in, the button can't go down.
I am trying to be concise here -- I bought this in Japan over 2 years ago, and am still in Tokyo now. I took it to the Mac store in Shibuya and they said I could buy a new battery, which was like $150 or so there. I ordered one off ebay for more like $40. (The seller "thebatteryconnection" had over 200,000 positive feedback so I am pretty sure the battery was genuinely new -- it certainly came packaged as such.)
And it did not fix the problem! I put in the new battery and it is exactly the same.
So now I am at a loss.
Perhaps I need another solution besides a new battery?
Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be, or anything else I could try?
