I just got a brand new Mac Mini M1 16/512 (yes brand new, sealed up in the box lol)

Yesterday I bought the Logitech MX Master 2S mouse to use with it. I have it connected via Bluetooth

I’ve never owned a wireless mouse, but this one seems to have a small bit of noticeable tracking latency. I went through the settings and turned everything up to max speed, no different. I tried to use it on the 2.4ghz receiver, no difference from Bluetooth. It’s not a terrible unusable amount of latency, but it is noticeable for sure.

I plugged in an old generic wired mouse i had laying around and it tracked a lot better.

Also, the wheel on the SIDE of the Logitech mouse squeaks a little :/

What could be the problem? I can return it no problem if it sounds like it’s defective. I have to have the mouse and keyboard wireless, because I need at least one USB A port for an audio interface

Anyone have this issue? I’m on the newest Ventura. Thanks

You've just discovered the Mini's greatest "weakness".
That is -- bluetooth on the Mini is often hit-or-miss, with "miss" being quite frequent.
Remember that bt is a "weak radio" technology to begin with.
As such, it's susceptible to radio interference from other things on the back of the Mini, wifi, etc.

My advice:
Use the Logitech "unifying receiver" instead, and DON'T use bt.

Try the receiver on the back of the Mini first.
If the mouse still seems unresponsive, I suggest you get a USB3 "extension cord" like this:
(numerous items shown)

Put the receiver on the end of the extension cable.
Plug the cable into the Mini.
Now "loop the end around" towards the front.

If you do this, I predict your "mouse response problems" will disappear.

It's not specific to the mini, bluetooth mice in general are trash.

I've found wireless input devices to have intermittent issues with tracking due to signal interference unless you have an external receiver that should reduce the amount of noise. Fishrrman's recommendation of using a Logitech Unifying Receiver should solve the issue. I have three BT pointer devices. All of them mostly work fine, but all exhibit episodes of being laggy and this has been the case for 4 different MBP laptops for me dating back to my 2016 tbMBP.

The only wireless device that doesn't have a problem is my Logitech trackball because I can use the receiver. If I try to use it without the receiver, it too gets laggy at times.
