My mouse and track pad have just stopped working- at the login page they work but then when I log in and the desktop open, it just stops working! I'm pretty sure it must be something stupid I've done, but I can't figure out how to stop it! I've tried going in to the system preferences using the keyboard shortcuts but can't seem to turn the mouse on...I don't know if it makes a difference, but my mac has been opening in single user mode also.
Thanks for any help you can give me!

Assuming you have Tiger, open System Preferences and tab to the Spotlight search bar. Type mouse and scroll down to Mouse Sensitivity. Does it look like the sensitivity setting is out of whack?

Also, try running fsck to verify and possibly repair your drive. It shouldn't be booting into Single User Mode.
