mouse won't respond , phone keeps trying connect with my mac...

ok, i put new batteries in this !@#$%^&* mouse (it goes thru a set every week) and the comp sees it but the mouse refuses to function...
yes they're in right yes the light comes on yes i did all the panels etc...
also , when i go to the bluetooth panel i find one of my idiot neighbors has a leaking cellphone that keeps trying to connect with my computer...
so after 5 weeks with this thing the mouse is already malfunctioning ...
does apple make anything that works the way its supposed to ?
any help appreciated... thanks...

1. What sort of Mouse is it? If it's a Mighty/Magic Mouse are you turning it off when you've finished using it? That should sort out your battery problem.

2. Go to the Bluetooth icon on the menu bar. Open Bluetooth preferences and then uncheck 'discoverable'. That should sort our your neighbour's phone continually trying to connect.

The magic mouse seems to get a lot of bad press about battery life. Weird really I use mine a lot and I have not switched it of since I got it (a couple of days after launch) and I am still using the batteries it came with.

We can zap a PRAM and remove two plist
com.apple.bluetooth.plist
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
restart and pair the Mouse again
