I've been working on a project recently for the past few weeks on Final Cut X, with no issues until early this morning. Out of nowhere 3 of the clips I was using in the project went black and so did the original files as well. The strange thing is that this particular set of video was taken at the same time as about 4 other clips that I was using and are perfectly fine.
When I go to the original file on my hard drive its just blank, no audio or video at all. I've repaired my disk permissions and that didn't work. I tried to convert it to a different format & it couldn't be read or recognized. I tried using several .MOV repair programs and none of them could recognize it either.
I used Grau GbR & got a report that looked like this:
[[Repair session information
Input file: /Volumes/Dez Media-1/Final Cut Events/Cleopatra_cinema/Original Media/MVI_8756.mov (31537 bytes)
Reference file: /Volumes/Dez Media-1/Final Cut Events/Cleopatra_cinema/Original Media/MVI_8654.mov

Entropy scan results
Your complete input file has been analysed in small blocks, and the entropy results show which blocks may contain video data (and which may not). A value less than 0.6 typically means that there is definitively no video data in that block, a value greater than 0.6 means it may contain video data.
start block (KB) - end (KB) -- entropy (must be higher than 0.6 for video data)

Video scan results
Your complete input file has been analysed for video data and this shows the amount of data found. Note: If no data was found (or less than expected), the entropy scan result above can give you an explanation why no (or not enough) data was found.
Video data found: 0 bytes (DEMO version saves only 50% of this)
Audio data found: 21888 bytes (DEMO version saves only 50% of this)
Your reference movie
Video codec: avc1
Audio codec: sowt
If there's no codec shown above, or if the entropy scan indicates, that there is video data in your file, but the video scan didn't find any video data (or the repaired movie doesn't play), always check that you are using a correct reference file! The reference movie has to belong to the same camera and it has to be shoot with the same camera settings (video mode, resolution etc.) as your broken file. If you do not have such a reference file, simply shoot a short movie clip using your camera and the same camera settings as your broken movie. ]]
And the format that shows up when I use the Quicktime inspector says this:
H.264, 1,920 x 1,080
Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 48000 Hz, Stereo (L R)
PLEASE help me!! I have this project due very soon & need a solution asap. I have no idea what to do! I don't have any other back ups of the files other than whats on my ext. hard drive. And it won't play there or anywhere : (
