Hi!

I'm getting a new iMac on friday and I want to move my old files from my old one. I'm going to copy my documents, movies, music etc. by hand. But not all applications (I have a lot of small apps with their prefs) I don't want to use Migration Assistant because I want to start fresh. My question is: Where are the files for my Keychain passwords, mail etc. Are there anything else important that I should copy that I am missing?

I'm planning on using a firewire cable, and starting the old iMac in target disk mode. Is there anything I should think of regarding permissions?

Thanks for your help,

Willehard

Most of those things are in your user's library folder. I would suggest copying the entire library folder to somewhere on your new Mac (desktop perhaps) for safe-keeping. Then you can pull stuff out as it's needed.

~/Library/Keychains
~/Library/Mail
