Move data from an old Mac to a New

Hi i have a Macbook and iMac first i didn't use the iMac but now i want to add my user but the iMac have a user and documents is there ir a way i can move the data of the Macbook to the iMac but not delete the older user on the iMac and add my own user ??

i read the Migration Assistant can do this but will the older user will be untouched?
