Move email over to Squarespace or keep with 1and1?

I really appreciate some quick advice. I own a 1and1 domain but am going to start using SquareSpace and would also like to start using email with my domain.

I do not have email setup through 1and1 right now but realize having email with Squarespace is an additional cost.

If not for that I would simply move my domain over to squarespace to keep the site and domain under one invoice.

Does anyone have experience with 1and1 to know if their basic email is decent and worth me keeping domain and site separate?

It just occurred to me the cost of keeping 1and1 would be more than simply paying more at squarespace.... soooo... nvmd.
