Move Users folder to network drive

I have just upgraded to SSD's in my iMacs and due to the lack of storage I want to have the users folder mapped to a network drive. Is this possible? Changing the location in the advance users panel just seems to break the account and prevent it from logging in.

Any help would be appreciated.
